One of the most important things we strive to do at J&D Ultracare is educate our peers about our nursing services. Unless you’ve dealt with in-home nurses in the past, you may not know about the kind of services we provide and who they are for. That’s why we’ve been writing articles on Near Say to help spread the word about us and what we do!
One article that we want to promote this week on the blog is titled, “The Top 3 Myths About In-Home Nurses”. The answers might surprise you! It’s easy to make assumptions about nursing services if you’ve never used one before. For example, one of the most popular myths is that nurses are only for seniors. This is not true! In fact, J&D Ultracare is proud to be devoted primarily to pediatrics.

Only for Seniors
Some people think home health care is exclusively for the elderly. However, in-home nurses assist parents with newborns, children with chronic conditions like cerebral palsy and diabetes, and kids with serious diseases like cancer. While mom and dad head to work or take the siblings off to school, pediatric nurses administer medication, evaluate treatment goals, and help with basic needs like eating and bathing.
Geared Toward the Sick
Home health nurses are experienced in caring for ill individuals, but they can also treat kids who recently had a surgical procedure or suffered a traumatic injury. Most accidents and sicknesses are unexpected. Short-term care can lessen the burden on families and allow them to keep their routine.
Too Expensive
A room in a private nursing facility may cost tens of thousands of dollars per year. In-home nursing provides flexible options like hourly care and day care to make it more affordable for caregivers. Since in-home care is designed to support and not replace parents, families can stick to their medical budget without sacrificing essential help.
